TOMAS ORTVED
Tomas Ortved is a highly accomplished drummer from Denmark. He is most well-known for his works in the legendary Danish band Sort Sol (formerly known as Sods), which he has been a member of since the band's inception in 1977. In addition to Sort Sol, Tomas has played drums in several other bands, including Cyklon Anti Cyklon, Alive With Worms, Nikolaj Nørlund, and Peter Sommer.
Aside from music, Tomas is also an accomplished painter who draws inspiration from the archaeological Middle East, particularly the Minoan culture of Crete, Babylon, Assyria, and Mesopotamia. His work often deals with figurative themes and has been widely exhibited in galleries throughout Denmark.
Tomas has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being named "Musician of the Year" at the "Steppenwolf of the Year" award ceremony in 2004. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Lars H.U.G., Martin Hall, T.S. Høeg, and Joakim Thåström.
In 2008, Tomas released his debut solo album "Sun Pistol" on Irmgardz 2.0. He followed this up with his second solo album "Catch" in 2012. Additionally, in 2014, he played with New Yorker guitar legend Lee Renaldo of Sonic Youth in the band Lee Renaldo and the Dust on their Scandinavia tour.
